SEOUL, Oct. 29 (Korea Bizwire) – Red ginseng products topped the list of most purchased items among Chinese and Japanese tourists at Incheon International Airport’s duty-free shops during the July-September period, Shinsegae Duty Free reported on October 28.
According to the company’s analysis, the popularity of red ginseng reflects its status as a representative Korean health food product, particularly favored as a gift item by international visitors.
Chinese tourists showed strong preference for chocolate products, particularly Jeju Gourmet Cacao and Hallabong orange-flavored chocolates, following their red ginseng purchases. Japanese travelers, meanwhile, frequently purchased mini lunch box-sized seaweed sheets and roasted seaweed with sesame oil.
Korean travelers displayed different purchasing patterns, focusing on travel essentials such as stir-fried beef with red pepper paste and pre-cut kimchi, items typically used to prepare Korean meals while abroad.
“We aim to provide a differentiated shopping experience by creating a special space where tourists from around the world can enjoy authentic Korean flavors,” said a Shinsegae Duty Free representative.
