SEJONG, May 4 (Korea Bizwire) — Renault Samsung Motor, the local unit of French automaker Renault SA, is recalling more than 20,000 units of its QM3 crossover SUV due to the defective brake system, the transportation ministry said Monday.
A potential problem in the QM3 mini SUVs could corrode the brake hose and cause the brake system to leak, which may compromise the car’s ability to stop, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The recall affects 20,949 QM3 vehicles produced between Sept. 11, 2013, and Nov. 7, 2014.
The ministry said Ford Sales and Service Korea, the local importer of the U.S. brand, will also recall certain model year Taurus sedans and Lincoln MKS full-size luxury cars due to a faulty door latch spring, which may cause the doors to open while the vehicle is in motion.
This affects 4,958 units of the Taurus produced between Dec. 1, 2009, and June 30, 2010, as well as 45 Lincoln MKS sedans manufactured between June 1 and Oct. 31 of 2011.
