DAEJEON, Feb. 10 (Korea Bizwire)The University of Science and Technology said Thursday that its two PhD students have developed artificial intelligence (AI)-based CCTV technology that can sense and judge a variety of complex abnormal situations.

The technology passed the Korea Internet and Security Agency’s seven intelligent CCTV certification categories, including loitering, intrusion, falling, fighting, abandonment, arson and marketing.

Even under foggy or snowy conditions or at night, the system can sense and report human motions and abnormal behaviors to the control center, thus enabling it to operate with a small staff.

Most existing intelligence CCTV systems are optimized for single abnormal situations, thus having limits in sensing and processing when different situations occur at the same time in a complex manner.

This technology can be used not only for the prevention of accidents but also for the analysis of consumer behavior patterns since it can sense the congestion of people in a specific space and report to a control center or manager.
