SEOUL, Feb. 4 (Korea Bizwire) – Ahead of the Valentine’s Day season, the portion of imported chocolate products has steadily increased over the past three years. According to Lotte Mart, sales of imported chocolate during the Valentine’s season (from Feb. 1 to 14) increased from 39.4 percent in 2012 and 54.5 percent in 2013 to 58.3 percent in 2014. It is expected that the share will exceed 60 percent this year.
At Homeplus, the best-selling chocolate product during the season for the past two years was Mathez truffles imported from France. As imported chocolate products are gaining popularity, retailers have increased the number of imported chocolate products on the shelves, and are offering various promotional activities and services including discounts, free delivery and photo imprinting.
