SEOUL, May 16 (Korea Bizwire) – Rolls-Royce Motor Cars unveiled on Monday two custom-made, South Korea-themed models, celebrating the past 13 years of its operation on the peninsula.
Introducing the cars at the British Embassy in Seoul, the Bespoke Collection for Korea was inspired by two South Korean cities – Seoul and Busan – incorporating South Korea’s esthetical heritage as well as the dynamics and culture of Seoul and Busan, the company said.
The Seoul edition is based on the automaker’s Ghost luxury business sedan. It embodies the colors black, white, blue and red – the core colors of the South Korean flag – for its exterior design. It has two pinstripes (red and blue) running down the sides, and a symbol reminiscent of the N Seoul Tower, inscribed by the Goodwood plant craftsmen.
The Busan edition, based on the Rolls-Royce Wraith, is blue and silver to symbolize the famous Haeundae beach backdropped with high-rise buildings. The geometric symbols engraved by the car’s C-pillars represent lattice doors found on hanok, Korean traditional houses, and the modernity of Busan’s Marine City, according to the company.
“I respect South Korea for its constant progress and high regard for craftsmanship,” Paul Harris, regional director of Asia Pacific, was quoted as saying. “We hope our unique collection will provide new inspiration to industry leaders who are Rolls-Royce customers.”
The British automaker made its official launch in South Korea in 2004. It opened its second showroom in September of last year.
