ULSAN, Jun. 26 (Korea Bizwire)The so-called “Yoon Chang-ho Act”, a new law with stronger restrictions for driving under the influence (DUI), is compelling drivers to exercise more caution.

More drivers are using taxis or chauffeur services both night and day due to stricter DUI limits.

One chauffeur company in Ulsan and Busan area reported that it had been hailed as much as 30 times between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.

“This is twice the average amount of calls we get during commuting hours,” said a company official.

Some drivers are asking their family members to drive them to work.

Businesses are also offering special courses on DUI prohibition to prevent driving under the influence during commuting hours.

The Ulsan Metropolitan Police Agency reported seven cases of drunk driving between 12 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Tuesday, two of which were ‘hangover’ drivers who drank the night before.

On social networks, people are sharing information on the expected blood alcohol concentration of drivers who drink the night before and drive the following morning.

“Drinking as well as commuting practices are bound to change as more people will become less comfortable drinking late at night and prefer either to take a cab or walk to get to work in the morning,” said one company employee.
