SEOUL, March 20 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korean tech powerhouse Samsung Electronics is forecast to sell over 55 million units of its latest premium smartphones this year, with its advanced specs and upgraded features keeping them in firm demand, a market report said Friday.
The outlook for shipments of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge has been revised up by more than 20 percent from the previous prediction, according to the latest report by DRAMeXchange.
The report forecast that Samsung will sell 22.2 million units of the Galaxy S6 models in the second quarter, up by 5 million from the last estimate.
In the third quarter, some 16.2 million units will be sold, followed by 12.5 million in the fourth quarter of this year, the report added.
DRAMeXchange cited that the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have captured the imagination of consumers with formidable features and specs.
The new Galaxy S6 series, unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Spain early this month, touts the industry’s first wireless-charging batteries and Samsung’s mobile payment system set for a local debut in the second half.
Samsung plans to start selling the new flagship lineup on its home turf in April.
