SEOUL, May 7 (Korea Bizwire)Samsung Electronics Co. said Wednesday that its automotive and audio subsidiary Harman International has signed a deal to acquire U.S.-based Masimo’s audio business for 500 billion won (US$350 million).

Under the agreement, Masimo’s high-end audio brands, including Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, Polk Audio and Definitive Technology, will join Harman’s existing portfolio of JBL, Harman Kardon and AKG, according to Samsung Electronics.

Masimo is an American health technology and consumer electronics company known for patient monitoring devices. In 2022, the company entered the home audio market by acquiring Sound United, which owns premium audio brands, such as Bowers & Wilkins.

Samsung Electronics said the acquisition will help Harman further solidify its global leading position in the consumer audio market, which is expected to grow from $60.8 billion in 2025 to $70 billion in 2029.

“Built on a shared legacy of innovation and excellence in audio technology, this combined family of brands, together with the talented employees of both companies, will deliver complementary audio products, strengthen our value proposition and offer more choices to consumers,” Dave Rogers, president of Harman’s lifestyle division, said in a statement.

Harman plans to complete the acquisition by the end of 2025.
