Samsung Electro-Mechanics Posts Strong Quarter as AI Infrastructure Spending Accelerates

SEOUL, Jan. 23 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co. said Friday its fourth-quarter net profit rose 7.6 percent from a year earlier, amid strong global investment in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

Net profit for the October-December period came to 227.3 billion won (US$154.8 million), compared with 208.4 billion won tallied a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Operating profit for the fourth quarter was 239.5 billion won, up 108.2 percent from a year ago. Revenue rose 16.4 percent to 2.9 trillion won.

The earnings beat market expectations. The average estimate of net profit by analysts stood at 208 billion won, according to a survey by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.

The company said sales at its component business rose 22 percent on-year to 1.3 trillion won in the fourth quarter amid robust demand for multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) from AI server operators.

The package solution and optical divisions posted sales of 644.6 billion won and 937.2 billion won, respectively, rising 17 percent and 9 percent from the previous year.

“The company plans to increase supply of high value-added products for AI and industrial sectors, such as servers and networks, and strengthen its automotive MLCC lineup with high-capacity and high-voltage products,” the company said in a release.

For all of 2025, the company’s net income came to 731 billion won, up 3.9 percent from a year earlier.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics added it posted 913.3 billion won in operating profit for the year, compared with 735 billion won the previous year. Annual sales rose 9.9 percent to 11.31 trillion won.
