Samsung Releases Industry’s First 128-GB eUFS for Automobiles

SEOUL, Sept. 26 (Korea Bizwire)Samsung Electronics Co. said Tuesday it launched the industry’s first 128-GB embedded Universal Flash Storage (eUFS) for automobiles, tapping deeper into the premium memory market.

The South Korean tech giant mass produced the mobile 128-GB eUFS for smartphones in January 2015.

Samsung said the new product is optimized for advanced driver assistance systems installed in high-end automobiles that connects to smart devices.

The company said the 128-GB eUFS for automobiles boasts 45,000 random read input-output operations per second, which is 6.4 times faster than the embedded Multi Media Card (eMMC) 5.0 products. Samsung said the new product has double capacity while maintaining the same size as the eMMC 5.0.

The tech giant added it also equipped a heat sensor inside the eUFS, as temperatures of automobiles increase while under operation.

Samsung said it will continue releasing new automobile memory products that come with both improved capacities and performances.
