SEOUL, Sept. 29 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics Co. said Wednesday that the number of home electronics devices worldwide connected to its SmartThings platform had exceeded the 10 million milestone as of Sept. 12.
SmartThings, released in 2018, is a smart home platform that connects a wide range of Samsung home appliances through Internet of Things (IoT) technology, and enables users to monitor their devices and control a variety of functions on a remote basis.
The most used service by consumers is Home Care, which is designed for product diagnosis and management. In particular, this service is used frequently during the summer, when the use of air conditioners increases sharply.
The number of monthly users for the SmartThings Energy service, which allows users to monitor and manage the power consumption of connected devices, also doubled in the July-August period compared to the January-June period.
