SEOUL, June 6 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics reported on Thursday that usage of its AI-powered “Photo Assist” feature has more than doubled compared to last year, driven largely by the growing popularity of social media content creation among users in their teens and 30s.
The data, drawn from Galaxy devices over the past three months, highlights the rapid adoption of the Photo Assist tool, first introduced in early 2024 with the Galaxy S24 series.
The feature is part of the company’s broader Galaxy AI platform and allows users to edit images using advanced generative AI technologies.
Photo Assist includes tools such as “Generative Edit,” which automatically fills in backgrounds when subjects are removed from a photo, and “Portrait Studio,” which transforms human portraits into 3D characters, watercolor paintings, and other stylized formats.
Users can also modify hairstyles and outfits within images — a feature that has proven particularly popular.
Samsung emphasized that the surge in engagement is led by younger consumers, who are increasingly documenting their lives through photos and sharing them on social platforms.
The company noted that the Generative Edit tool, in particular, has received strong user feedback for its ease and creativity.
Samsung debuted Galaxy AI in 2024 with the Galaxy S24, positioning itself at the forefront of mobile artificial intelligence. The following year, it launched the Galaxy S25 series with enhanced AI capabilities designed to deliver a more intuitive user experience.
“Generative editing has become more than just a photo enhancement tool — it’s a new form of self-expression,” a Samsung spokesperson said. “We will continue to expand Galaxy AI features that enrich everyday life through convenience and creativity.”
