SEOUL, May 29 (Korea Bizwire) — One year after the launch of Samsung Electronics’ all-in-one washer-dryer — hailed as a “dream appliance” — consumer usage data suggests the product is redefining laundry habits, particularly for working households.
According to a recent survey of over 200 purchasers of the 2024 Bespoke AI Combo and similar models, more than half cited convenience as their top reason for purchase. Key advantages included eliminating the need to transfer clothes between machines (23%), space-saving design (21%), single-installation setup (12%), and one-touch wash-to-dry functionality (11%).
The streamlined process has led to a shift in laundry routines, with a growing number of users — particularly dual-income families — choosing to do laundry on weekday evenings. Over 53% of all-in-one washer-dryer users reported doing laundry in the evening, rising to 59% among dual-income households. That compares to 42% among users of separate washer-dryer units, based on a broader survey of 686 respondents.
“Laundry has become a quieter and simpler task, so I’ve started doing it more often after work,” one user commented.
Satisfaction with Samsung’s AI features also ranked high. Among 154 Bespoke AI Combo users, 91% praised the AI detergent auto-dispenser, followed by AI energy-saving mode (89%) and personalized AI wash courses (83%).
Since its debut in 2024, the Bespoke AI Combo has sold over 100,000 units in South Korea and garnered 21 design and innovation awards, including honors at CES 2024 and the iF Design Awards. It also ranked first in the Korea Quality Satisfaction Index for washer-dryer combos.
The 2025 model now supports an increased drying capacity of up to 18kg — the highest in the domestic market — and trims total laundry time by 20 minutes, completing a wash-and-dry cycle in as little as 79 minutes.
“We’ll continue to deliver meaningful innovations like the Bespoke AI Combo that transform everyday routines,” said Sung Jong-hoon, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Home Appliance Division. “Through personalized experiences and cutting-edge technology, we aim to lead the next era of home appliances.”
