DAEGU, Sept. 23 (Korea Bizwire) – Jukjeon Elementary School is providing school lunches that are customized for students from Muslim families.
For the five Muslim students attending the school, a different menu has been prepared since May, with pork replaced by eggs or beans.
Faculty at the school explained the reason for the change. “There were cases when the Muslim students skipped lunch or had to bring their lunch because they did not eat pork, so we looked for a solution.”
As a result, pork in the menu was replaced with eggs or beans, and wine used in cooking was also omitted.
Students were happy with the change. “Before, I had to bring my lunch box to school, but now I can eat lunch with my friends, so I am very happy,” said one student.
