SEOUL, Sep. 2 (Korea Bizwire) – Passengers at Incheon International Airport are expected to enjoy the self-service bag drop system before the end of 2014.
The airport corporation announced on August 31 that it planned to introduce the system, designating SK Telecom as the technology provider. Passengers on Korean and Asiana Airlines’ flights will be the first to experience the service.
Many airports around the world including Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands, Heathrow Airport in Britain and Sydney Airport in Australia have already adopted the new scheme.
Using the new service, passengers enter their details on a bag drop unit, attach the bag tag issued by the unit to the bag and then drop it at the self-service bag drop station, which makes easier and quicker check-in.
“The self-service bag drop service introduced for the first time in Korea is expected to allow passengers to check in easily and quickly, which helps the airport hold its place as the No. 1 airport in the world in terms of efficiency,” an official of the airport said.
