JEJU, Jan. 10 (Korea Bizwire) — Jeju Island’s Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise) Peak, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the southern resort island’s famous geographical features, was the most visited place on Jeju among tourists traveling by car last year.
Big data analysis firm TDI studied big data from driving navigation platform T-map and the Jeju Tourism Organization collected between January and December 2021 to arrive at this conclusion.
The Jeju Tourism Organization had already revealed that Bijarim Forest, Udo Island, Saryeoni Forest Path, Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak and Manjaggul Cave were the most looked up destinations by tourists last year.
T-map data from T-map Mobility was then used to estimate the number of cars that went to each tourist attraction, which showed that Seongsan Ilchulbong was most popular with 323,147 car visits last year, followed by Udo Island (231,584 cars), Saryeoni Forest Path (171,093 cars), Manjanggul Cave (78,654 cars), and Bijarim Forest (71,462 cars).
TDI showed that the highest number of cars flocked to each travel destination in October, reaching a total of 147,680 cars, up by more than 30 percent from the previous year.
