SEOUL, Aug. 30 (Korea Bizwire)The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Tuesday it will launch the Wheelchair-Accessible Restrooms Discovery initiative, a joint effort with the city’s residents.

The project, set to operate from Sept. 1 to Dec. 9, aims to improve the convenience of outings for individuals using wheelchairs, including those who are disabled or elderly.

This will be achieved by enabling them to check the entrance accessibility and availability of handrails in advance.

Residents interested in participating in this endeavor can provide details about the locations and photographs of wheelchair-accessible restrooms in restaurants, cafes, and parks across the city.

This can be accomplished by accessing the dedicated website of the city government.

For instance, when it pertains to restroom entrances, participants can upload photos displaying the overall entrance view and highlighting any variations in floor levels.

Volunteers can accumulate recognition for up to four hours of service, and mobile coffee coupons will be distributed through a random selection process.

Utilizing the gathered information, the city government aims to validate and establish data systems through collaboration with private enterprises.

The intention is to introduce this service on the Smart Seoul Map by the year’s end.

Currently, the Smart Seoul Map allows users to access information like accessibility quality, pathway width, incline angles in various directions, and obstacles.

This information is provided through an accessibility map designed for individuals with limited mobility.
