SEOUL, Feb. 18 (Korea Bizwire) — A new artificial intelligence (AI)-based safety management system will be introduced at construction sites in Seoul.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Digital Foundation announced Thursday the launch of a trial project for introducing AI-based safety solutions at private construction sites in the city.
The AI system conducts a real-time analysis of CCTV footage collected from various locations at the construction site to detect danger.
A worker’s sudden collapse, or failure to wear safety helmets can be detected by the system and then send notifications directly to safety managers and staff.
The city plans to select 50 private construction sites without sufficient capabilities to introduce smart safety technology to test drive the AI safety system.
The city will receive applications through districts by May, complete the system build by June, and begin the project in July.
“This project will be able to support safety management solutions at small-to-medium-sized construction sites that lack preparations for the new workplace disaster law,” said Kang Yo-sik, president of the Seoul Digital Foundation.
