SEOUL, May 14 (Korea Bizwire) —In its short existence, the Seoul Dog Patrol Team has already achieved impressive results.
Led by the intrepid Kuro and his owner Jeon Hyung-jun, the team was patrolling the streets of Seongnae-dong, Gangdong-gu, at the ungodly hour of 1 a.m. on May 7th when they stumbled upon a man lying on the street near Gangdong-gu Station. Without hesitation, the team alerted the police to the situation.
Responding quickly, the police discovered that the man was developmentally disabled and had been reported missing just a day prior. Without any means of contacting his family, he had wandered aimlessly before falling to the side of the road, injured and alone.
The missing person was promptly taken to a nearby hospital where he was eventually reunited with his loved ones, all thanks to the Seoul Dog Patrol Team’s heroic efforts.
On Sunday, the Seoul Autonomous Police Committee announced that they will be awarding the ‘Kuro’ team a commendation for merit in recognition of their outstanding service. The momentous commendation ceremony is set to take place on August 18th at the Gangdong Police Station.
Jeon Hyung-jun, the owner of Kuro the dog, commented, “I would have normally dismissed him as a common drunkard and moved on. But thanks to our patrolling mindset, I took a closer look and realized that this person was in need. As a patrol team member, it fills me with pride to have been able to find this missing person.”
