SEOUL, Oct.13 (Korea Bizwire)Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital announced that it has developed a system that can continue to manage foreign patients who visit Korea to treat their illness even after they return to their homes abroad. The system will be called ‘Smart After-Care’.

The hospital launched the system first at the Marina Health Examination Center in Abu Dhabi. Marina Center is a medical facility specializing in physical examinations and checkups, which Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital built in Abu Dhabi, UAE (United Arab Emirates), earlier this year.

With the launch of the system came cooperation between the two facilities, and a medical team sent from Korea to Abu Dhabi checked on patients with prostate cancer using Korean diagnosis instruments. At the same time, a medical team at Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital monitored the process, observing patients’ conditions and predicting a prognosis.

This type of smart after care system is also expected to be implemented at the National Cancer Center, International St. Mary’s Hospital, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and Samsung Medical Center.

In addition, healthcare companies such as Bit Computer, Green Cross Healthcare, Dongeun Information Technology, Inbody and MSP C&S will participate.

Officials anticipate that the new system will help attract more patients from Middle Eastern countries. “There was a limitation in treating foreign patients, because checking their condition after they returned to their homes was not easy. With the new system, we can continuously check the condition of the patients after they leave the hospital, giving patients a sense of security. Hopefully this can lead to attracting foreign patients to come to Korea for proper medical treatment.”
