SEOUL, Apr. 5 (Korea Bizwire) – The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on Tuesday that it will provide free breakfast to students participating in its “Running Again in the Morning Season 2.0″ exercise program.
Launched in October last year, the morning exercise initiative aims to aid students’ physical and mental recovery in the post-COVID era. Now, the education office has decided to offer complementary breakfast meals to program participants.
The free breakfast provision will run from April through December, excluding school vacation periods.
To facilitate this venture, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education will allocate funds to 573 schools within its jurisdiction – 250 elementary schools, 209 middle schools, and 114 high schools – to cover the cost of purchasing simple breakfast items up to 3,000 won per student.
“We will provide multifaceted support to ensure that mornings in Seoul can awaken students’ physical health, intellectual abilities, and overall well-being,” said Cho Hee-yeon, the Superintendent of Education for Seoul.
