SEOUL, April 9 (Korea Bizwire) — Starting this month, public school students in Seoul will be served lunch with vegetables and soup only, excluding meat, twice a month.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education said Thursday that it will begin operation of a ‘GREEN lunch day’ policy that obligates all schools to provide vegetarian meals two times every month, and install ‘green bars’ at designated schools to allow students to choose from normal or vegetarian meals.
GREEN lunch day stands for Growth, Responsibility, Ecological Citizen, Eco-friendly, and Nature Etiquette, a special cause for creating a new lifestyle that not only considers one’s own physical and mental health, but also the global environment.
The Seoul education office also plans to include new education plans on the transition of food culture.
