Seoul Takes High-tech Approach to Help Disadvantaged Teens

SEOUL, Jan. 11 (Korea Bizwire)Female sanitary products will be distributed to those in need using KakaoTalk, a mobile messenger.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government, in collaboration with Kakao Commerce Corp. and Yuhan-Kimberly Ltd., will be distributing free sanitary pads and other female products to 1,500 teenagers living in Seoul’s Gangseo District via KakaoTalk.

The recipients can enter their delivery address after receiving a gift message via KakaoTalk, to then have the products delivered to them in a gift box.

The initiative is part of the city’s move to minimize the stigmatization of vulnerable groups by using more confidential means of support.
