SEOUL, Oct. 28 (Korea Bizwire)The number of applicants for this year’s College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) will slightly increase from last year to over 110,000 in Seoul, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education said Monday.

A total of 110,734 high school seniors and graduates in the capital are scheduled to take the CSAT on Nov. 14, marking an increase of 3,311 from the previous year, according to the office. High school students and graduates accounted for 53.6 percent and 42.9 percent, respectively, of the city’s entire test-takers, it noted.

About 19,300 teachers and public officials will be mobilized to help ensure the smooth progress of the CSAT at 226 test sites across Seoul.

Notably, the education office plans to delete the names of exam supervisors from their name tags, starting this year, to protect them from possible personal attacks from parents. Instead, their name tags will only carry a serial number, the office said.

Last year, a parent caused controversy by visiting the school of a CSAT supervisor who had caught his child cheating and verbally abusing the teacher.
