SEOUL, South Korea, Oct. 3 (Korea Bizwire) –Asked about the simplified process of the Armed Forces Day ceremony held last Monday, Blue House spokesperson Kim Eui-kyeom delivered President Moon Jae-in’s stance that “it was not only a sign of peace, but also a consideration to soldiers.”
At a morning session with his aides on Tuesday, President Moon said, “The soldiers had to start as early as April to prepare for the ceremony in the past, and training over the summer made it even harder,” adding that “the color guards and the soldiers marching in synchronization is not an easy matter, and we should take that into full consideration.”
Moon also noted that “when the special forces used to do paradrop demonstrations in Yeouido square, the television made the jumps look easy. But all of that was the result of harsh training over the course of many months, with big or small problems rampant during the course of training,” emphasizing that “soldiers should be the beneficiaries of Armed Forces Day.”
The Armed Forces Day ceremony commemorating its 70th anniversary was carried out in a simplified process, excluding street parades or marches during which weapons would normally be put out for demonstration. This time, K-Pop star Psy was invited for a special concert, and, for the first time, it was conducted in the evening to allow as many as possible to watch the event.
