SEOUL, March 27 (Korea Bizwire) –Singapore has nullified work permits for all North Koreans in the country in line with the latest U.N. sanctions over its weapons programs, according to the sanctions committee.
“Singapore has revoked the work passes of all nationals of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea earning income in Singapore and will not grant new work passes to nationals of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea,” the government said in its report submitted to the U.N. Security Councils’ sanctions panel last Monday. The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is North Korea’s official name.
There are now no North Koreans with work passes in Singapore, it added.
The resolution, adopted in December following the North’s ICBM test the previous month, calls for U.N. member states to repatriate North Koreans earning income in their jurisdictions immediately and no later than Dec. 22 2019.
