SK hynix Signs On as Main Sponsor for PUBG Tournament

SEOUL, Feb. 8 (Korea Bizwire)SK hynix Inc., South Korea’s No. 2 chipmaker, is now the main sponsor for the domestic tournament of mega-hit video game “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” organized by Krafton Inc.

A total of 128 influencers participated in the tournament held last weekend.

The world’s largest DRAM producer marketed its Double Data Rate 5 (DDR5) DRAM targeting gamers, who required a high-capacity computing environment during the tournament.

SK hynix is spearheading technological development in the DDR5 market.

Following the industry’s first release of DDR5 DRAM in October 2020, the company released a sample of DDR5 with the industry’s largest capacity of 24 Gigabit (Gb) in December last year.

SK hynix plans to use the tournament as an opportunity to enhance public awareness about DDR5 DRAM.

The South Korean unit of Intel Corp. also signed on as a co-sponsor of the Battlegrounds tournament. Intel’s latest CPU for desktop and notebook PCs supports DDR5 DRAM.
