SEOUL, March 20 (Korea Bizwire) — Chip giant SK hynix Inc. said Thursday its U.S. sales accounted for over 60 percent of its total revenue last year on rising demand for artificial intelligence (AI) chips from major U.S. tech companies.
According to a financial report released by SK hynix, revenues from the United States totaled 41.9 trillion won (US$28.7 billion) in 2024, making up 63.4 percent of the company’s total annual sales of 66.1 trillion won.
This marks a significant jump from previous years, where the U.S. portion hovered around 40-50 percent.
SK hynix America Inc., the company’s U.S. unit, reported 33.4 trillion won in sales in 2024, nearly tripling from 12.5 trillion won a year earlier. Net profit stood at 104.9 billion won.
The growth was driven by skyrocketing demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips, a key component in AI accelerators used by Nvidia Corp., Google and other tech giants.
