SEOUL, June 29 (Korea Bizwire) — SK Telecom Co., South Korea’s largest mobile carrier, said Monday it was partnering with the Chungnam National University College of Veterinary Medicine to develop an artificial intelligence (AI)-based veterinary image diagnosis assistance solution.
The AI-based solution is aimed at helping veterinarians with the diagnosis process by automatically decoding X-ray images of pets.
The university plans to turn tens of thousands of big data images that its affiliated veterinary clinic retains into non-differentiated information and provide them, attached with the diagnosis opinions of the veterinarians majoring in image diagnosis, to SK Telecom.
SK Telecom will develop the AI-based image diagnosis assistance solution after learning the image diagnosis data provided by the school on the basis of its AI automation platform Meta Learner.
By leveraging its 5G technology and cloud platform, the company plans to enable veterinarians to receive the decoding results of the image data regardless of time or location.
SK Telecom expects the AI-based solution to make it faster for veterinarians to decode and diagnose the image data, thereby upgrading the overall level of veterinary medical care.
