SEOUL, April 8 (Korea Bizwire)SK Telecom Co., South Korea’s largest wireless carrier, said Thursday it will open up a series of offices through Sphere, the company’s dedicated workspace, in Seoul, Ilsan and Bundang, on the outskirts of Seoul.

SK Telecom staff will be able to access these workspaces without ID cards thanks to an artificial intelligence (AI)-based facial recognition system, which can identify people even when they’re wearing a facial mask, the company said.

Facial scanning through a tablet PC placed at the entrance is synced with the workspace’s Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), which allows employees to access a PC environment that’s synced to their primary workspace.

SK Telecom believes that an increasing number of employees going to a local Sphere for work will reduce pollution and traffic jams during rush hour, contributing to the company’s ESG management.

The furniture and room dividers used at Sphere have been made with upcycled clothes, the company said.
