SEOUL, July 2 (Korea Bizwire) – SK Telecom has launched a close-circuit TV security service using LTE wireless network for farmers, fish farm operators, and country home dwellers. The company said on July 1 that it has made available a “Point Cam LTE” close-circuit TV security solution that combines a close-circuit TV with an LTE data amplifier.

Existing close-circuit TVs are unable to send and receive data in an environment in which there is no fixed-line network infrastructure. The 3G wireless close-circuit TVs were not practical because of low resolution.

The new Point Cam LTE solution can overcome both limitations by relying on SK Telecom’s latest LTE technology that allows transmission of data at a super-fast speed. In addition, the new service can detect moving objects through its heat sensor and send alarms to the user’s smartphone.

SK Telecom offers the solution at an affordable monthly subscription fee as low as only 33 percent of that offered by other electronic security service providers. The solution also comes packaged with a theft insurance policy of up to 100 million won and a fire insurance policy that pays for damages.
