Sokcho Recruits Disabled Baristas for New Café

SOKCHO, Jan.12 (Korea Bizwire)A new café operated by the municipal government of Sokcho to create jobs for the disabled opened on January 11.

The new business, named Café Haeomi, is located on the fifth floor of the City Hall Annex. The Sokcho Social Welfare Center will be operating the café on behalf of the city for the next three years. Baristas who are disabled will be employed.

The café will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., selling coffee, tea and other beverages.

The Sokcho Social Welfare Center is planning to hire six disabled baristas by 2018.

Sokcho city officials commented that they hope to provide a firm footing for the disabled through job creation, offering them an opportunity to participate in and contribute to society, while improving their welfare, saying, “We hope it will be a workplace that will nurture their dreams.”
