SEOUL, Apr. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea and the United States have launched a bilateral working group on artificial intelligence (AI) focused on boosting tech cooperation and advancing joint research, the foreign ministry said Friday.
The launch of the working group was approved last December at the inaugural South Korea-U.S. Next Generation Critical and Emerging Technologies Dialogue in Seoul.
During the first meeting of the working group, the two sides discussed the upcoming “AI Seoul Summit” in May and agreed to cooperate on developing international standards, advancing joint research and fostering interoperability in AI policies.
The working group is expected to deepen the countries’ tech alliance following their summit agreement made during President Yoon Suk Yeol’s state visit to Washington in April last year, the ministry said.
