SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Korea Bizwire) – South Korea has officially launched a project to develop Tech-GPT, an AI-powered platform designed to explore global technologies, companies, and talent, leveraging generative AI capabilities.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy announced on Tuesday that it held a signing ceremony for the Tech-GPT project in collaboration with the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, Korea Electronics Association, and Korea Institute of Industrial Technology at the Conrad Hotel in Seoul.
Tech-GPT will utilize generative AI to analyze 110 million patents registered in five key regions—the United States, China, Germany, Japan, and the European Union—along with 220 million recently published domestic and international research papers. The platform aims to launch its conversational technology search service by late 2024.
By 2026, real-time company and talent data will be integrated, with plans to expand in 2027 by collaborating with global platforms to facilitate networking among companies and professionals worldwide.
“Openness and speed are critical to innovation,” said Oh Seung-chul, Director-General of the Industrial Policy Bureau at the Ministry. “The government will actively support Tech-GPT in establishing itself as a global open innovation platform.”
This initiative underscores South Korea’s commitment to harnessing AI technologies to enhance industrial innovation and foster international collaboration.
