SUNCHANG, South Korea, Oct. 14 (Korea Bizwire) – Participants at the 11th Sunchang Fermented Soybean Product Festival made bibimbap for 2,016 people, marking the year 2016. Bibimbap is a traditional dish consisting of a bowl of rice with seasoned vegetables and gochujang, or red pepper paste.
The festival took off on Thursday for a four day run at Sunchang County’s Traditional Red Pepper Paste Folk Village, celebrating the cultural heritage of Korea’s variety of sauces.
This year’s theme is “Globalization of Sunchang’s All-Natural Taste,” and the festival offers some 70 events related to the region’s sauce-making specialties and sauces from overseas.
