SEOUL, Dec. 11 (Korea Bizwire) – Sunye, the former member of girl group Wonder Girls who has now turned into a Christian missionary, declared, “I have no intention to get back to the entertainment world.” In a charity concert held on December 5 at the Calvary Church in East Brunswick, New Jersey, she said, “I enjoyed the life as a singer but now I want to share the love of Jesus. I will live the rest of my life spreading the word of God.”
In a video on the church concert she commented, “Although I somehow liked the life as an entertainer, I couldn’t fill the feeling of emptiness with anything.” She met James Park, a Korean-Canadian Christian evangelist, in New York while staying there from January last year. She got married and gave birth to a daughter in October.
Before boarding an airplane to Haiti on March 18 for a missionary work, she said, “We will stay in Haiti for five years but I won’t quit my job as an entertainer.” At the time, JYP Entertainment, the talent agency to which Sunye belongs, said in a statement, “Sunye is still with us under contract and a member of Wonder Girls. There will be no disbanding of Wonder Girls and Sunye will be here to stay.”
