SEOUL, Dec. 4 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s top general on Wednesday ordered the military to focus on its duty of protecting the public after the National Assembly voted to reject President Yoon Suk Yeol’s declaration of martial law.
Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) Chairman Adm. Kim Myung-soo made the remark in an emergency meeting of key commanders after Yoon lifted the martial law following a unanimous vote by the National Assembly early Wednesday to demand the president end it.
Kim also ordered troops to maintain a firm readiness posture against North Korean threats amid the situation, the JCS said in a notice sent to reporters.
