DONGHAE, South Korea, April 27 (Korea Bizwire) – Mangsang Beach, one of the most popular beaches on the east coast of South Korea, is revamping its car camping resort as a foreign tourist-friendly area, as part of efforts to attract more visitors during the summer, Donghae City announced yesterday.

The city’s latest move is thought to be targeting the many Russian tourists who visit Donghae via the Port of Donghae during the summer on the DBS cruise ferry, the only ferry in the country that connects South Korea, Japan and Russia.

As problems regarding a lack of space on the beach have been raised in the past, the city hopes its latest efforts to create a space with enough room for foreign visitors to enjoy tanning and playing beach volleyball games will see its beach spark more interest.

Since the weather in the region is relatively warm, the city has planned a 30-day trial run prior to the opening of the beach, which will see parts of Mangsang Beach in the auto camping resort allotted to foreign visitors.

The city said South Korean visitors can also use the facility.

To help beachgoers visiting Mangsang Beach, translators, a health center, safety guards and stockrooms will also be built.

“Working closely with the Donghae City Facilities Management Corporation, we will provide more sunbeds, parasols and space to play beach volleyball,” one city official said.
