SEOUL, Aug. 29 (Korea Bizwire) — The inaugural flight of South Korean low-cost carrier (LCC) T’way Air from Paris to Incheon was canceled due to a technical problem of the aircraft, industry sources said Thursday.
Flight TW402, which was scheduled to depart from Paris to Incheon at 8:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday, was canceled after encountering a mechanical issue that required immediate inspections, the sources said.
The LCC newly launched the route connecting Incheon and Paris this week. The company has dispatched a replacement aircraft for 143 passengers remaining in the French capital.
A company official said the decision was made out of necessity for safety reasons, and passengers were provided with accommodations and meals.
T’way Air has faced criticism and scrutiny in recent months after being plagued by repeated flight delays and cancellations due to aircraft maintenance issues. The LCC plans to launch additional European routes in the coming months
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency said in June that it will be “ready to react appropriately” against possible flight maintenance issues involving T’way Air’s European flight business.
