SEOUL, June 27 (Korea Bizwire) — Second Vice Foreign Minister Kim Ji-na will attend an international conference on development financing in Spain next week, the foreign ministry said Friday.
The fourth International Conference of Financing Development is set to take place in Seville, Spain, from next Monday through Thursday (local time), bringing together high-level representatives from over 70 countries, the ministry said.
Development financing refers to all public and private funding contributing to development in developing countries, including official development assistance and private funds secured through trade and investment, the ministry said.
With about five years remaining until the 2030 deadline for achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs), participants are expected to discuss ways to scale up and more effectively utilize development finance. About US$4 trillion will be needed to achieve the SDG goals by 2030.
Key topics at the upcoming conference will include domestic resource mobilization, private investment and international development cooperation.
At the conference, Kim will deliver a keynote address, reaffirming the government’s commitment to international solidarity and cooperation through continued development efforts, the ministry said.
