SEOUL, Korea, Nov 22 (Korea Bizwire) – The Korea Culture Information Service Society, an agency under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said on November 16 that it signed an agreement with MiraeN, the government-approved textbook publisher, to reproduce videos on Korean culture available on its Culture Portal (www.culture.go.kr) in the latter’s M-Teacher website (www.m-teacher.co.kr). The M-Teacher site is used by 30,000 K-12 teachers for educational purposes and the videos feature Korean culture from history, art, and festivals. In addition, the videos will be available on YouTube, Naver Video, and KTX train and in-flight video services.
Since 2007, the Korean culture agency has nurtured 800 video producers with more than 1,900 videos on Korea produced so far. As part of an effort to promote Korean cultural heritage, the agency has dispatched producers in Korean culture centers in six international cities including New York, Berlin, and London.
Choi Kyung-ho, president of the Korea Culture Information Service Society, said, “As more teachers at elementary to high school level are exposed to videos introducing Korean culture, we expect more students can better learn about it. In the future we will try to pool capabilities of learning information agencies to promote our culture across the world.”
