WASHINGTON, April 3 (Korea Bizwire)The White House confirmed Thursday that the United States will impose a 26 percent reciprocal tariff on imports from South Korea, after questions emerged over the difference between what President Donald Trump presented during a public event and what is written in an official document.

During a Rose Garden event, Trump showed a list of countries subject to reciprocal tariffs with South Korea’s rate at 25 percent. But later, an annex to an executive order, posted on the White House website, showed a 26 percent rate for South Korea.

“Go with the annex,” the White House said via email in response to a request by Yonhap News Agency to confirm the rate for South Korea.

On Wednesday, Trump announced plans to impose a minimum 10 percent “baseline” tariff on all imports to the U.S. and “reciprocal” tariffs, which will go into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday and at 12:01 a.m. next Wednesday, respectively.
