SEOUL, July 18 (Korea Bizwire) – Over 20 percent of South Korean workers have no plans for vacation this summer because of tight budgets and other reasons, a poll showed Tuesday.

According to the survey of 934 salaried workers by local education service institute Hunet, 21.6 percent of the respondents said they are not planning days off for a vacation this summer.

The number is slightly lower than the 25.5 percent tallied last year.

Hunet said 44.1 percent of those who answered negatively cited economic reasons for not going on vacation, followed by those citing their work at 34.7 percent.

The average cost for vacation among those who said they were planning on one stood at 517,000 won (US$459), slightly lower than the 540,400 won last year, it showed.

The findings also showed 66 percent were planning on domestic travel, while 18.6 percent opted for a trip abroad and the other 5.9 percent said would stay home.
