IKSAN, Feb. 13 (Korea Bizwire) — Students at a special-education school for the blind received a special graduation gift this year.
Located in Iksan, North Jeolla Province, Jeonbuk School for the Blind recently delivered “3D tactile albums” modeled after the faces of all seven graduates as graduation gifts.
The album is the result of a project carried out with an engineering team at Mercer University in the U.S. and Drim School, an alternative school for North Korean defectors.
The students’ faces were scanned to make a model, and they went through special sessions so that the faces of the graduates would be as realistic as possible.
The face models were made of white plastic and were enclosed in a frame made of birch wood.
Underneath the face, each student’s name was inscribed in Korean and Braille, allowing graduates to reflect on their friends’ faces.
