PARIS, April 4 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean movie theater chain CJ CGV has opened its 500th 4DX theater at a cinema operated by French counterpart Pathé located in Thiais, a commune in the Parisian suburbs.
Developed by CJ CGV’s subsidiary CJ 4DPLEX, theaters with 4DX technology support physical stimuli such as moving seats, wind, fog, rain and scents that are generated in accordance with the content displayed on the movie screen.
In 2009, CJ 4DPLEX became the first company in the world to introduce its augmented movie-going experience to market for feature films. Since 2010, 4DX technology has been exported; currently there are 4DX theaters in 57 nations totaling 60,000 seats.
