SEOUL, Feb. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — Nine out of 10 South Koreans used the Internet last year, with Internet usage growing among senior people, a poll showed Sunday.
According to the poll conducted on 59,970 people belonging to 25,000 households by the Ministry of Science and ICT in 2018, 91.5 percent of South Koreans used the Internet, up 1.2 percentage points from the previous year.
South Koreans used the Internet for an average of 16.5 hours a week, with 95.3 percent getting on the net more than once per week, it said.
By age, 99.9 percent of the people in their teens to their 30s used the Internet, followed by 99.7 percent of the people in their 40s and 98.7 percent in their 50s.
Noticeably, 88.8 percent of the people in theirs 60s used the Internet last year, up 69.8 percentage points from 10 years ago.
The poll found 95.9 percent of all people used instant messaging services in 2018, 62.1 percent of them used email and 62 percent of them used the net for online shopping.
