SEOUL, Dec. 27 (Korea Bizwire)The government has changed its regulations to prevent the use of snares to catch wild animals.

It is the first de facto regulation that recognizes the life dignity of animals.

The Ministry of Environment on Thursday issued a notice of the “regulations on trapping equipment for wild animals,” excluding snares from the list of approved devices for capturing harmful wild animals.

However, snares can be used in areas north of the civilian control area where firearm hunting is prohibited.

Until now, snares, which could be used to capture harmful wild animals after obtaining a separate permit from local authorities, have been criticized for causing extreme pain to animals.

Most animals suffer from extreme pain and suffer serious injuries to their flesh and bones, and most die from exhaustion after being caught in snares.

Among the first class of endangered wild animals, five Asiatic Black Bears in Mount Jiri also died after being trapped in snares.

In the European Union, countries except France, Spain and Belgium prohibit the use of snares to capture wild animals.
