SEOUL, Oct. 30 (Korea Bizwire) — Statistics from several online retail stores have revealed that consumers spend more on pet care products than other goods.
Market Kurly, an online grocery delivery platform, said Thursday the average value of each order for pet care items between January and October 26 was 36 percent higher than the average value of other items combined.
Compared to last year, the value of each pet product order was 175 percent higher.
The company explained that consumers tend to spend more on pets than themselves.
Sales of pet care items jumped by 1,097 percent between March and October 26 compared to last year.
Pet toys accounted for 36 percent of all pet care items sold, indicating that there is a particularly high demand for pet toys.
Experts argue that consumers, following the coronavirus outbreak, are spending more on pet toys as they spend more time with pets at home.
