SEOUL, Sep. 22 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Electronics is tapping into the rising trend of “Open Innovation,” which is getting popular around the world. “Open Innovation” refers to making goods and products not through solely internal efforts or ideas of a company but in collaboration with external parties’ participations.
To this end, LG Electronics officially sponsored World Maker Faire New York 2014 held in New York for two days from September 20 to 21 local time.
Maker Faire exhibits fascinating products associated with technology and art in keeping with the do-it-yourself spirit, so it is a festival where makers show off their own products and share information and ideas together.
With the theme of “Re-think Everything,” LG Electronics gave visitors opportunities to take part in a number of hands-on activities.
Its booth provided a “Making Kit” for visitors to make fun and innovative products, such as a music box with the same components used to make LG washing machine control boards or a science toy with LG Direct Drive motors used in making LG washing machines.
LG Electronics informed the public of its organizational culture to promote innovation, as it presented the premium LG G3 smartphone’s unique selfie technology and the LG Pocket Photo mobile printer that were created by the ideas of its own employees.
“Proactively contributing to the global wave of innovation, we will constantly discover and create innovative products that will lead the market,” said Park Seok-won, Global Sales & Marketing Officer of LG Electronics.
