SEOUL, Dec. 21 (Korea Bizwire) — The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Monday that it will be opening ‘Zero Markets’, shops that refrain from using any disposable packaging, at 10 locations including department stores and super supermarkets (SSM).
Zero Markets are eco-friendly stores that allow customers to buy the exact amount of detergent, shampoo, cosmetics and other refillable products by weight.
Customers can fill up their own multi-use bottles or containers, or use ones provided at the store.
The city plans to test Zero Markets for six months after opening new stores sequentially until January of next year.
Following the trial period, each local distributor will take charge of running the Zero Markets.
